Mussel Beach Campground is a place to rejuvenate in nature whilst enjoying the tranquillity of remoteness. Our season runs from the 22th May until 30th September 2017 ~ come and experience getting back to nature on the pristine west coast of Vancouver Island.

Mussel Beach Campground is located on 153 acres, on the north side of Barclay Sound, with 1.45km of south and east facing oceanfront. The campground sits between the Long Beach and Broken Island Group units of the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, near Ucluelet.

The Small Print
Wilderness Camping
Camping at Mussel Beach Campground is a true wilderness experience so please bear in mind:
We can accommodate RV’s up to 35 feet in length
There is no electricity on the property so we are unable to offer hook ups
There is no running water so you will need to bring your own drinking water
Rain water is collected in large tanks and is available for use as wash water
Propane heated hot water showers are available at a nominal cost
We have pit and compost toilets but no flushing ones
Garbage must be taken away with you or burnt in your campfire
Glass bottles should not be brought into the camp site as they are an environmental hazard and heavy to transport
We can recycle clean cans and plastic bottles
Firewood is available for sale
Car top boats may be launched from the shoreline but we have no boat ramp or facilities for larger boats
We only except cash or credit card, no debit cards
Check in time is between 2pm-10pm

Do Not follow the instructions on Google Earth or your GPS device as the directions are not correct. Please use the following instructions below.
Take Highway 4 to the west coast of Vancouver Island, passing through Port Alberni.
Follow signs to Ucluelet / Tofino / Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.
From the Ucluelet / Tofino Highway junction with Highway 4, turn left.
After 1km, turn left along Port Albion Road.
Go over the single lane bridge and look out for a gravel road on the left with a Mussel Beach Campground sign after about 1km.
Follow the signs for 8km and you will get to Mussel Beach in about 20-30 minutes.
*Please note that the final 8km is a bumpy gravel road with some pot holes. It will be time well spent. To view a video of the road check out https://youtu.be/y1sx1XMDjwQ


The road to Mussel Beach is 8km unpaved gravel road. Not recommended for low riding vehicles, but 4X4's are not required. If you take it nice and slow you will have no problems and you might even see some wildlife along the way.

Do not keep food in your tent or leave it unattended in your camp site
Lock coolers and food in your vehicle
